MVHC Earns 5-STAR Rating
February 14, 2013
For the second year in a row, the Neighborhoods of Gardenview at Minnesota Valley Health Center (MVHC) has earned a 5-Star rating from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
"This exceptional recognition is the result of the work of our entire staff, each dedicated to providing the highest quality clinical, spiritual and emotional care to our residents," said Dori Mutch, LNHA, Executive Director of Senior Services. "I couldn't be more pleased."
Nursing home ratings are taken from three sources of data: on-site (unannounced) health inspections, staffing and quality measures. The CMS provides a star rating for each of these three sources and combines the scores to calculate an overall rating.
"The health inspection process alone looks at all major aspects of care in a nursing home - about 180 different items," Mutch said. "I'm very proud of the work we do and the high level of care and compassion that is shown to our residents and their loved ones."
Trained teams of objective surveyors visit each nursing home to check on not only the quality of care, but also to inspect medical records and talk with residents.
