The transition from living at home to living in a care center can be a positive experience by:
- Including your parent in all discussions and letting him or her make as many decisions and choices as possible.
- Listening to all questions or concerns and consulting with care center staff to calm worries or fears about the transition.
- Visiting often and encouraging calls, cards and visits from friends and family members.
Moving a parent to a care center is a major life change for all involved. In most cases, seniors adapt well to their new lives, benefitting from the freedom from responsibilities and renewed socialization.
